Wayne is a Tech alum who graduated in 2002 with a degree in Electrical Engineering. In 2003 he started working as a longshoreman in Norfolk. He has worked in several roles at the Port of Virginia as an equipment operator, lasher, and foreman. He has also served as a union official for 12 years in various roles, most recently for the last 6 years as Vice-President of ILA Local 970. His wife is a real estate agent and they have been involved in multiple areas of real estate investing. They have worked with other investors and independently to have successful fix-and-flips, long-term and medium-term rentals. They have also invested in other folk’s deals to help them succeed.
When asked what draws him to the settlement business he replied, “Owning a settlement company combines two of my favorite things. As mentioned, my wife and I have always been interested in everything real estate. Second, running a business is also a passion of mine. When looking to build a business in this field, I was introduced to several highly qualified people who were looking to start a new and improved settlement company. It's been a fun adventure building this business and relationships with my co-workers and our clients.”
There is never a dull moment in the Fingleton family with three kids. They are all involved in sports and theater and seeing them play and perform makes Wayne proud. Moving to Blacksburg has also allowed their family to embrace the outdoors and beauty of the area through hiking. Wayne’s wife grew up in the New River Valley. After graduating and getting married, Wayne did not originally anticipate coming back. But it has been a joy to introduce his kids to the New River Valley and Virginia Tech. He said, “We're so fortunate to be able to raise our kids in such a great area.”
